Formerly 1956-1978 Los Venados, Officially Hispano República de Nuevo León, a republic of Spanish-speaking people.
In 1956 a group of Latinos banded together and declared a state called Los Venados meaning "The Deer" because of the abundant deer population. But the American Imperial Government or puercosucios meaning "dirty pigs" seized the region in 1967 after protests broken out killing 12 and wounding 23,000 protesters.
In 1978 the new republic became independent and adopted the official name of the Hispanic Republic of Nuevo León.
